paradise: lost (& found & lost & found)

my dad does work at a company that offers travel packages.  most importantly they do beach travel packages.  as i wrote here my husband and i had a disastrous honeymoon and we're always thinking that we deserve another vacation to make up for it.  we were also thinking that we would need a spring break after the cold winter.  while the cold winter didn't really happen we still need a spring break.  every month my mom gets a list of friends and family beach deals from my dad's customer.  it is kind of an odd way to go on vacation because we don't know where we're going until about a month before we leave.  this month when the deals came out king louie and i picked here:

that is in cabo san lucas and the deal only ran one week.  the water looked so blue and the sand was so white that we couldn't resist.  we were all ready to book when i realized that that was the week in april that i'd be punctuating (that's my affectionate term for my well, you know, monthly awesomeness).  i do not punctuate on beach vacations and we had to refocus our efforts.  it was kind of heartbreaking.

so then we decided on here:

that is puerto vallerta.  this hotel is on a private bay and kind of built into a mountain.  they have the restaurant that is built right over the ocean.  this is a once in a lifetime kind of place.  i sent an email to book it.  we filled out our paperwork and everything.  then i got an email back that the week we picked was booked.  so i asked about another week.  that week was booked too.  we had to refocus our efforts.  it was very heartbreaking.

king louie did a little digging online and found here:

this isn't a friends and family deal.  it is just a regular special but we got 10% off as a friends and family discount.  this is also puerto vallerta.  it is more in a hotel zone than on a private bay but still really awesome.  king louie and i stayed at the same hotel chain when we were in hualtuco, mexico back in november.  scott and i go on two kinds of vacations.  the beach and disney world.  anyway, when we booked this one we thought we were good to go until we heard that the room we originally thought we'd get (partial ocean view) was booked.  now we are getting a partial ocean view with a jacuzzi for an extra $30 a person.  king louie said that he'd pay an extra $300 a person to have it booked and over with.  the woman who i booked through said to get the extra money from my dad.  i've yet to collect.  i'm thinking it isn't likely.

we had a great time at our trip in november:

if this trip is a continuation of that trip i think we're in for a real treat.  we aren't heartbroken any more.  just excited.

  4. I'm so excited, but also beyond jealous that you are going on a beach vacation. I also think it's hysterical that you call it punctuating! So great :)

  7. I love Mexico, you are going to have an awesome trip! I've never heard of the term punctuating, but I love it! Punctuating while on a beach vacation would be no fun at all.

  8. woohoo! vacation booked :) i've never been to mexico or had a 'legit' beach vacay. when my fiance lived in florida, we went to the beach but it was a 30 minute drive out - not really a relaxing, beach front property like you'll be enjoying!

    and punctuating - love it!
